Not what you'd expect

Not the bright, shiny finish I was expecting. These are dull with built in patina. Also, way too many pieces have stamping defects/flaws. While generally functional, not something you can use for quality finish work.

Q: how do I determine which washer size?

A: Finish washer size should match the screw size. #6 Washer for #6 Screw, for instance. Boating types like an oval head screw, but a flat head will look ok.

Q: Are any of these sizes 1/2__quote__ inside?

A: Unfortunately we do not, that would be a 7/16 washer which we do not carry. Thank you.

Q: Hello, Before I order the #4 Brass Finishing Washers I would like to be sure of their size. I know that the center hole is sized for a #4 screw, so can you please tell me the OD of the washer and its height? Thanks, Walt Everett, WA

A: Hi Walt - the finish washers are 3/8__quote__ OD & 1/16__quote__ in height. I love them and use them with slotted oval heads on all my canoe and boat projects, They are just a nice finishing touch. Good luck. Rolf

Q: I need a brass colored or real brass washer to cover an area where I will be installing a new knob on a cupboard door. The washer needs to be at least 1__quote__ nor more than 1-1/4__quote__ across with a center hole at lease 1/8__quote__ but no more than 1/4 inch. I do not know the # size of the screw I will be using. What size washer do I need?

A: Based on the information in your question, I don't think that this finish washer is what you are looking for. These washers are relatively thin pressed and stamped brass sheet material designed to compliment the finish of a flat or oval head brass wood screw. They are much smaller than 1-inch in diameter. I think that you should be looking for a flat fender washer. You can buy an unfinished fender washer or a zinc plated one and paint it metallic brass/gold/bronze color for the application you described.

Q: how can I tell what size finish washer I need?

A: Finish washer sizes correspond to the screw size that you are using. If you are fastening with #10 screws, you should purchase #10 finish washers. If you are installing the washers in an evnironment the promotes rust, use brass or stainless steel. Stay away from brass colored washers if you are concerned about rust. Use solid brass or stainless for exterior or marine use and use brass or stainless screws that match. Oval head or flat screws can be used with the finish washers and I think that philips head screws look best but that is just my preference.
