Brass Escutcheon Pins feature a smooth shank with a large half-round head. Escutcheon pins are typically stouter than brads and wire nails. These pins are useful for many finish / decorative applications. We carry escutcheon pins in many sizes, and sell them by the pound.

My wife is a sculptor and quilts furniture with steel cans. The escutcheon nails are used as the stitching. Several thousand nails are required for each piece of furniture.

I use them as decorative surface treatments for wood turned vessels, sometimes protruding into the interior of pieces I call Iron Maidens. Attached is an image of the largest and newest, a walnut vessel 25"" tall and 15"" in diameter, which has 3456 pins, of three different sizes.

Couldn't find #14 x 5/8 escutcheon pins anywhere locally, so when I found them at Jamestown I was thrilled. I'm repairing 30 year old wind chimes, and the pins keep the strings from slipping. Only needed 24. I'll save the remaining 841 for the next time.

I use these pins in a rock tumbler to polish fired brass(cartridges). These pins along with a little Dawn dish liquid in a rock tumbler for twelve hours will clean and polish brass even cleaning primer pockets leaving Texas brass looking new.

The problem I encountered was after filling all the address and registration information on line when I came to the final step of paying with my credit card it was refused because the system will not accept "" international "" credit cards , I live in Canada . I called to see what could be done and a very pleasant lady apologized about the problem and took my information and card over the phone and the pins arrived safe and sound.

We have ordered Jamestown Escutcheon Pins for several years for use to apply a brass tag to each of our carved wooden dogs we create by chainsaw. By purchasing in pound quantities the pricing is far more reasonable than smaller packages available at hardware stores. Ordering online is easy & delivery is quick. Thank you Jamestown Distributers.

Q: Hello, would you use a 1/16"" drill bit for these pins? 18 ga. x 1/2"" Solid Brass Escutcheon Pins, I will be connecting piece of flat copper with them. I will be connecting flat pieces of copper with them.

A: 1/16"" will be too big of a hole it seems, you may want to try this with a scrap piece of copper with other drill sizes before you commit to your project.

Q: If this has been asked, I've missed seeing it. Is it possible to buy just 1/4 lb. or 1/2 lb. of these brass pins instead of a whole pound? I've need of a bunch, but not a __quote__pound-sized bunch__quote__. A pound would last me 2 lifetimes.
9 years ago4 Answers
A: I've got 4 lifetimes worth, two wire sizes. Happy to sell you 1/2 pound, 1/2 price-- Be careful not to buy non marine grade brass plated ones at the hardware store--

Q: Are these solid brass?
9 years ago5 Answers
A: The brass escutcheon nails usually have duller finish than the brass coated steel nails. Brass is softer and can be cut and flattened easier than the steel nails. If you buy from Jamestown, their brass nails are true brass. I use them in making Nantucket lightship style baskets.

Q: Why is the #18 x 11/4__quote__ brass escutcheon pin so expensive?
9 years ago2 Answers
A: Rates for brass escutcheon pins are generally expensive anywhere since brass is a precious metal and very useful in a marine environment. Jamestown Dist. gave me a very fair price when I bought mine from them.

Q: which gauge is thicker 14 or 18 gauge?
9 years ago10 Answers
A: Assuming Jamestown Distributing is using the same sizing scale / gauge commonly used in the industry for wire, 14 is thicker than 18. An example, 22 gauge wire is much thinner than 14 gauge and 16 gauge electrical wire is thinner than 8. I hope this helps you. ATB, LouS/

Q: Are these made in the USA? Are the solid brass? Can they be driven into hardwood or do they need to be predrilled? Thanks
10 years ago9 Answers
A: The box doesn't say whether they are made in the US. I would suspect so as they are very well machined.
