Q: null Has anyone eve used this to fix chips on a bass boat gel coat. No structural damage just some fiber glass chipping above my rub rail and to fill some screw holes. What product would you recommend? I am not a pro but If there is a filler I can use to fill some small chipping That I could come back and paint with gel coat and let me know.

A: Sorry, I'm not the right person to ask as I am a wooden boat guy and not very familiar with gel coat and its related repairs.

Q: null what solvent do use to clean up during and after formula 27?

1 Answer

A: I've never used Formula 27, but I have used a lot of Epoxy and Bondo type products. I don't know what solvent to use, as I've never used solvent to clean my tools. These plastic resins don't bond to plastic or bond well to slick metal, so it flakes right off after the job. With the metal tools it is better to scrape it off before it hardens, but on plastic it doesn't matter. I also use plastic Tupperware type containers and just let any residue set in the container. Later it just peels right out, leaving the bowl clean. In any case, you will not normally have time to __quote__clean__quote__ anything up, as the resin in all these products cures pretty fast. Once this stuff cures no normal solvent will cut it.

Q: null Is it possible to purchase color tints for formula 27?

2 Answers

A: Color tints to fomula 27? Paint covers formula 27 so easley I have never even thought of tinting it. But, if I did, I would add a little fiberglass tinting color to a small patch while mixing and test to see if the formula holds up the the addittion of the color tint. I would bet that it would. Formula 27 is a very good product if you apply in thin amounts and let dry 24 hours betreen applications.. If you apply large amounts it will crack and gap.
