Long-Lasting Battery
This is the third battery I have purchased from JD in 5 or 6 years. I bought the EC scissors for my wife, who is a crafter and cuts a LOT of cotton fabric. She has her own original designs for children's aprons, and she makes 3,000 or more in a year (we go to craft shows and she has several stores she is in). These batteries last for 8 hours of cutting sometimes, and this is a backup battery. The original batteries are starting to show there age, so they don't last as long. The EC cutter is a fantastic product.

Battery with Long Life
My wife uses the EC Cutter for her business. Battery life is important, since she may cut fabric (cotton) for 8 hours. This battery is up to the task, but she does have a couple of backup batteries so she can easily pop in a freshly-charged one.

Highly Recommended Electric Scissors
I bought a replacement rechargeable battery for my wife's rechargeable scissors made by EC. The scissors are more than a couple of years old, and my wife has cut hundreds and hundreds of yards of fabric with them. She is a crafter who makes aprons of her own design. She had several electric scissors, and they all failed to perform dependably and with any longevity. I found JD on line, and I found the scissors and bought them. They are well worth the price. They are amazing. She uses the scissors so much, I think the original battery was becoming worn, so I bought the replacement.

It works great!
I use this cutter for cutting yardage fabrics. It is easier than regular scissors because it works electric powered cutter. Also, it can cut really flexible as round and curvy shape. However, it is hard to cut fabric as straight because it effected by hand's shaking. Overall, it is really good to cut fabrics.

Q: Will the present lithium replacement batteries work with older (15+ yr) EC Cutters? Lithium batteries weren't common then.

Q: my battery won't charge. is it the transformer or the charger thats not working?

A: Joy,Does the light on the Charger light up when you have it plugged into a reliable wall receptacle? That should indicate the receptacle has the 120 VAC needed for the charger to work. If no light, it could be the receptacle or the charger. You really need a voltmeter which you could use to check if there is power coming out of the charger to charge the battery when it is plugged into the charger. Our experience after owning the EC Scissors and charger for almost four years is that the charger is very dependable and long-lived. We have not had to replace the charger, and this is after being used almost every day. We have had to purchase another battery, as the first one is obviously not taking as much charge as new.Sorry I can't give you an exact answer, as I would want to physically want to ensure the receptacle the charger is plugged into is good. If it is a good receptacle, then I would use a meter to check the output from the charger. If the expected output is there, then I would suspect the battery. I have worked on electrical equipment since 1970, so I have the equipment needed to locate the problem.I wish you luck in confirming what your problem is.

Q: My electric scissors are made by Dritz. They look exactly the same. I need a new rechargeable battery. Is the battery the same? Thank you, Colleen Brickner

A: Hi colleen. They do look like the same scissors. I have replaced the battery once before and it worked ok on the one I have. I just read that the dritz 28500 model does not use the same replacement parts so check first Ted.
