Product Details

Our WEST System Epoxy kit contains everything you need to tackle epoxy repairs and fiberglassing projects. Each kit includes a gallon of WEST System 105 resin (105B, .98 gal) and your choice of 205B Fast or 206B Slow hardener. Additional supplies include mixing pumps, 6 ounce fiberglass cloth, mixing sticks, the official user manual, and the WEST Fiberglass Restoration book.

105 Epoxy resin is designed specifically to wet out and bond with wood fiber, composite materials like fiberglass, and reinforcing fabrics, and a variety of metals. High-strength formula makes this resin ideal for marine and boat repair applications.

205 Fast hardener is used primarily in cooler temps or for a more rapid cure. 206 Slow hardener is used in warmer temps or when more work time is needed. Proper mix ratio is 3 parts resin to 1 part hardener.

WEST System has been producing an effective epoxy for boat building and woodworking for over 35 years. While items may also be purchased separately, purchasing the complete kit saves time and money.

Info & Guides
Both epoxy kits come with the WSY-300 standard plunger pump, but are compatible with the 306-25 and 309 Pumps. The Resin to Hardener ratio for the 105B Kits is 5:1 by either weight or volume. When combined with 105 Resin in a five-part resin to one-part hardener ratio, the cured resin/hardener mixture yields a rigid, high-strength, moisture-resistant solid with excellent bonding and coating properties. These kits are not intended for clear coating.

I bought this kit through Jamestown Distributing for a good price. The mixing pumps included in the kit are a ""must have"" for perfect mixing ratios. I would recommend this kit to anyone needing a epoxy resin kit.

I great starter kit for those just starting fiberglas repair

Love the metering pumps. No guess work. I did order with the slow set resin and that was a good thing. Working in 80 to 90 degree temps and resin still set up fast, especially if I had 4 oz or more in the mixing pot. Kept the resin in the fridge overnight to give me a little more working time. Working on a lot of underside locations. In those cases was good that the epoxy got tacky fairly quickly to put on fiberglass mat. Got a good result.

West System proves it's reputation

I needed to replace a defective stringer in 1973 Mastercraft and heard that the West System was the best product to use in conjunction with the new wood. The product was easy to use and the ""kit"" came with everything needed. Jamestown Distributors had the best price, delivery was quick and support was excellent.

I am a wood worker and use this product to fill open knots, splits, checks, cracks, etc. in rough sawn slabs. The pump dispensers are great! It doesn't get any easier than that.

Q: Hi, Is this biaxial cloth included in the kit and what are the dimensions of the included cloth? Thanks

A: Sorry to have taken so long to respond, but I kept forgetting to look for the fabric when I went into my workshop. The kit I bought many years ago (2016) did include this cloth. The kit included 0.98 gallon resin, 0.86 quart of slow hardener, mini pump set, the fiberglass fabric, disposable stir sticks and gloves, and two manuals. The package says the fabric is 38 inches x 3 yards.

Q: I was planning to use 105/206B with 6 oz. cloth to line the inside of a sawn-off wine barrel to make a shower basin. Notably, now that the barrel has been empty for some time, the staves are no longer swelled and no-where near water-tight. They had to be fixed one-by-one to the iron bands around the barrel. I saw the response to a question below regarding repair to a hairline crack causing a leak in a teak joint. I expect the wood in this barrel to swell and shrink depending on the season and usage. Would one of the two more flexible epoxy products you recommended below (TotalBoat FlexEpox or West Systems GFlex) be the better product for me?

A: Neither, you will need a rubber type product that is very flexible.Sent via the Samsung Galaxy A11, an AT&T 4G LTE smartphone

Q: Can this be used in a potable water tank?

2 Answers

A: I guess so. Lots of people build their own tanks from scratch with epoxy. The West System website should be helpful. If you want to repair an existing tank, chances are it is made from PPE and epoxy will not stick to that. So it depends. ?
