The hose I ordered was exactly what I needed, but I paid $55.00 to have $26.00 worth of hose shipped rush, because I needed them in 6 days, took 8 days to arrive. When I ordered I was told 3 days. The hose would have worked great for me, but by arriving late I was unable to use it.

Don't ""Set It and Forget It""

After about 10 years, the aging hose cracked at the cuff where it was clamped to the emergency bilge pump. I doubt any liquid had ever passed through it nor had it ever seen any sunlight. This sort of subtle failure could easily result in the loss of a boat. If you install this hose, best to check its condition annually.

this product economically fits the bill for longer runs of tubing - very light and easy to install. Time will tell how durable it ends up being

Q: Can this hose be attached to a through hull below the water line
3 years ago4 Answers
A: I agree with Philip. It is intended for bilge pumps that discharge above the waterline.

Q: Is this hose smooth bore?
7 years ago7 Answers
A: No, the hose for the most part has the corrugated feel on the inside and out, but every foot there is a smooth spot like you see in the photo for plumbing connections.

Q: Is this hose sensitive to sunlight?
8 years ago1 Answer
A: It's typically used where the sun doesn't shine, so I can't say if it is uv inhibited or not.

Q: how long is this hose?
10 years ago2 Answers
A: The hose is sold by the foot. Either remove the old hose and measure, or estimate the approximate route of the hose and add several feet for curves and routing. It always takes more hose than you think.

Q: do I match sizes of hoses and thru hull fittings by just using the same diameter? In other words, if the measurement on the thru hull fitting is 1 1/8__quote__ then I get the pump hose at 1 1/8__quote__ also. Want to get it right the first time I order.
12 years ago4 Answers
A: Correct. I believe that this hose is measured by the ID (inside diameter). If you order 1 1/8 hose that means it should fit over a 1 1/8 fitting.

Q: Is there an adapter to go from rul-80 (1-1/8) to standard 1-1/4 plumbing fittings?
13 years ago1 Answer
A: This hose is intended as a bildge pump discharge hose and should be routed from a bildge pump discharge to a through hull fitting or grey water discharge above the warter line only, that is why it is so cheap. If you are connecting a sink to a thru hull fitting below the waterline you need to use a good quality hose such as bellowsflex that can be purchased a a local industrial hose distributor, It is wire wound which keeps it from collapsing plus it is tough and is not subject to bending or breaking. If you want to sink your boat use the cheaper hose but it is not designed to be used under the water line.
