    Commercial quality bilge pump

This is a commercial quality pump and the only one I use. Commercial salmon fishing in Bristol Bay Alaska, i fish serious water where help may be hours away. I use one pump at the steerage box, one at the prop shaft box, and one under the cabin with both automatic and manual switches for each pump. I clean each pump after every delivery to the tenders (fish scales), and at the end of the season. I solder the wiring in place and waterproof the junction with 3M 5200. There have been no failures over 30 years. Good bilge pump.

Q: Do I need an activation switch or is this automatic? What water level is needed to activate this pump?

    1 Answer

A: Rule makes the 2000 both ways with or without a built in switch. Rul10 is the model without an automatic switch, Rul35s is the same pump with a built in switch. I have no experience with the automatic version as I use the Rul10 and a bilge switch made by __quote__Aqualarm__quote__ that never chokes on debris and has a high water alarm circuit too. I rig the alarm circuit to a buzzer I can hear from the cockpit. The alarm bell is too much noise. A rule 2000 will leave about an inch of water in the bilge. Factor this in when setting up your bilge switch or the pump will run all the time and flatten batteries.
