use them to hook the mainsheet aft on a spritsail rigged skiff. I was disappointed to learn that a third afterthought would cost$10 to ship.Went online and got the third matching one less and free shipping.A rep stated in an email that Jamestown has lower rates for small items if you call.Too late and not a forthright practice.

Nice product

I bought these brass cleats for another use (pull knobs) for a custom-built wood aquarium stand, and hood. I wanted something nautical, but couldn't find anything conventional that I liked. These are perfect; looks great, and strong enough to support the weight of the hood.

I used the 9"" bronze cleat for a flagpole cleat. It looks beautiful. I'll be purchasing more in the future , including some smaller cleats for smaller flagpoles.

Exceptionally Well-Crafted Product

Used the brass sea-dogs to give a very finished look to a handmade wooden tray filled with wine corks that had been set in place with resin. Adds a great way to carry the tray!

Very Elegant Looking Product.

I used this product on something entirely different project. Wanted to give my self designed high tech media cabinet, which will be in a room which consists many authentic real brass nautical instruments. So these Brass cleats give a very elegant look, so far I have bought twelve 3 inch cleats and 4 large five inch cleats. Once the room is finished. My wife wants custom end tables with doors meaning more brass cleats as door handles. Wish Jamestown carried more nautical items. So I can come up with more ideas.

We used these to tie back the cords on our blinds. They are much more attractive than others we have seen. They also match our door hardware.

Ask a lot of questions about what screw size to use. They are not clear on this for length and will not give you a good recommendation for the proper screw.

A: Hi Buck, If you are mounting these cleats on a wood deck, then I'd use #7 flat head brass screws and drill a pilot hole with a 5/64th drill. Hope that helps, Doug
