Stir thoroughly before use. The non-skid agent in this product will float to the surface in the container and must be stirred thoroughly. May be applied by brush or roller. For brush or roller application, apply without thinning, although in hot weather, 5 to 10% of Pettit 120 Thinner may be added to maintain a wet edge. For best results on large, smooth surfaces roll out using a short nap or foam roller followed immediately by leveling off with the tip of a brush. Do not apply on extremely humid days (90% RH or above) or when rain is threatening. Do not apply in late afternoon when working outdoors as the wet film may be adversely affected by dew. When working in cooler temperatures, be sure the air and surface temperatures will remain at or above 50 degrees for at least eight hours after application.

  • SURFACE PREPARATION:
Coating performance, in general, is proportional to the degree of surface preparation. Follow recommendations carefully, avoiding shortcuts. Inadequate preparation of surfaces will virtually assure inadequate coating performance. Surface must be free of dirt, loose paint, rust, oil, grease, wax, soap and any other foreign matter.

    Easy application

This paint goes on easily and the media spreads out very evenly. Two thin coats like the can says is the way to go. On the down side, I wish it was not a gloss paint, and it seems to mildew quickly.

I would not buy this product again.

Difficult to apply an even coating of non skid paint. Particles clump in the paint despite vigorous mixing. Far better to use regular deck paint and sprinkle non skid particles upon it for an even coat. Cover with a second coat.

    Great non-skid paint

This is a great, easy to use non-skid paint. I was amazed how easy it was to put on the deck and how well it has held up so far. You do not have to be a professional painter to use this and get professional results. Just follow the directions and you will not have any problems and the end result is great. Excellent non-skid for boats. I would definitely recommend it.

    Questions

    1 - 10 of 15 Questions

Q: What is the coverage that this product gives? (How much per gallon?)

    1 Answer

A: A gallon was more than enough to cover the deck and cockpit sole of an 18' sailboat. Hint however, don't apply when outside temperature and humidity are high, material thickens too much

A: Perfect product, just make sure you stirr the product throughly so the non slip material spreads eventually.

Q: As I read the description and application instructions, I found no mention of having to use a primer with EZ Decks. Is that really the case? It seems that somewhere I may have read that primer isn't required. Is it really that EZ?

Q: How does this product stand up to a Polyester Gelcoat based product for wear and dirt repelling?

    1 Answer

A: Gelcoat is much harder and resilient to chemicals, and both will develop microscopic pores over time that dirt can get trapped in, but the gelcoat is a harder surface and will take longer to get to that stage. The paint's advantages are the ease of application with consistent colors, and quick repairing. Both can be scrubbed down and washed with a decent amount of water pressure. Gelcoat will have a better bond to old gelcoat than the paint (if both are applied properly).

Q: I need a light blue colored non-skid paint. Is there a dye I can use in the EZ-Decks paint to get the desired color?

    1 Answer

A: I do not know if dyes are available. I used the product in grey and am quite satisfied with the product and results on my 22ft sailboat. Hope that helps. -----------------------------------------From: ""Jamestown Distributors""
