Product Details

Racor diesel replacement filter elements work with Diesel Spin On Fuel Filter/Water Separators. The lower the micron rating, the finer the filtration for the fuel filters. Lower micron ratings should be considered when there is no additional downstream filtration. Refer to the chart below to determine appropriate filter application.

I have used this product for many years.

Although most years it is hard to know just how well the filter worked (no problems very little evidence of foreign material in filter) in the one year that tank contamination resulted in enough material trapped in the filter to seriously degrade engine performance, the filter had stopped all that material from getting to the engine fuel system.

I've used R24S filters for a number of years and they have always been effective.

Q: I just installed a new Suzuki 140 hp 4 strok outboard on my boat. I have a Racor filter model 220/225 and it is the only filter on my system. The filter size I use is a R24. What Micron value should I be using, 30,10 or 2 micron? Does the micron size have any impact on the gas flow to the engine, that is will the lower value supply fuel at a lower rate than the higher value? Will the filter influence the motor speed?

A: assuming that this is the one and only filter in the system the 2 micron size is the way to go. With a gas system I doubt that the 2 micron size will interfere with the rated gas flow. On a diesel system you would use the 10 micron size in the primary filter and 2 micron in the secondary filter. I had been using a 2 micron in the primary filter in the past and I think this led to the demise of the diaphram in the secondary filter because it was working harder to draw the fule from the tank. At least that is the theory I am going with.
