I would buy this product again.

The SeaStar hydraulic helm came with fittings (90 °) that wouldn't work. Purchased two straight fittings and got back to installing the helm in no time.

Q: null how to do you attach the teleflex straight connector to 3/8 rubber tubing? I see them listed as a compression fitting but I can't figure out how the fitting secures to the hose.

A: I do not believe rubber tubing is what the manufacturer specs for this application. Please make sure you are using the specified hose.

Q: null I need to remove the current fittings from the cylinder end of the hoses in order to go through the splash well via a bulk head fitting. Do you have the fittings to replace the hose fitting ends that connects to the cylinder on the outboard. If so, does it require a special tool to crimp the hose on to the fitting. The system is approximately 12 years old on a Ranger boat.

A: Most likely the quad seal at the front of the unit. They call it a quad seal since its a 4 sided seal. Changed a few over the years on different boats. Inexpensive part, pull steering wheel, uses a pin or similar item to lift up and out on the seal. Press new one in, put steering wheel back on and your done.

Q: null I need to re-terminate the end of a hydraulic hose. I bought Teleflex tube nuts - 3/8 brass P/N HF5526. How do these get installed? Does it require a tool to do so? The old one would not come off of the hose, so I assume that it is crimped.

A: No special tool needed. The new ends will __quote__crimp on__quote__ when you tighten the __quote__nut__quote__ with a wrench. Just cut off end of hose and install the new ends. Extra ends in package in case you screw up or want to do another/again.
