Very complete kit, well made

I bought an HC5312-3 hydraulic cylinder to replace my original, 2005 vintage, cylinder which had started to leak and I couldn't repair. The kit is complete with a helm fluid fill kit and bleeder hose. The materials and instructions are excellent. It takes two people to bleed the system but it is not hard to do. The original cylinder failed due to rust preventing the ""rod ball end"" from moving which caused the piston seal to wear and leak. The new cylinder appears to have several design improvements and works well. The instructions don't mention it but I greased the moving parts of the ""rod ball end"" to try to prevent future corrosion.

Q: I'm a frequent user of Sea Star HC5331-3 steering cylinder for Volvo sx style transom assemblies. I could see that it is not a stock item for Jamestown. Could it be that you have them and are just not listed. Or, may at some other date have them in stock. We go through 2 to 3 annually and always have to source them on the web.

Q: I need a seal kit for a teleflex cylinder ram with a 1__quote__ shaft diameter? I can't read the model #. The cylinder was installed on a 2014 boat. Thanks. Nick

1 Answer

A: The seal kits are specific to the cylinder model. If you don't have a part number on the cylinder, go on our website and search on hydraulic cylinders to see if there is a picture of what you have, you will need a seal kit for that part number.

Q: We plan to install a Garmin autopilot on our 1982 Cheer Men PT41 trawler. The current hydraulic steering system includes a Teleflex Capilano hydraulic cylinder, Model BA150x7-TM. As you undoubtedly know, to select the appropriate model auto pilot, you need to know the capacity of the hydraulic cylinder. So, my question is, what is the capacity of the Teleflex hydraulic cylinder , and what Garmin AP systems do you recommend based on that capacity?
