Product Details

Buff Magic is a fiberglass reconditioner and de-oxidizer and also makes a great metal polish. It has been formulated to be user friendly whether buffing by machine or hand. A 22 ounce container will buff an entire 40 foot boat. Also available in 1 gallon pails (10 lb.).

Info & Guides

Note: Buff Magic pink formula is infused with jeweler's rouge, a red amorphous powder consisting of ferric oxide. Jeweler's rouge is used in polishing glass, metal, or gems, making the pink formula preferable for metal polishing applications. The pink formula is also safe for use on fiberglass applications. White Buff Magic is recommended for use on fiberglass only.

Yacht Brite recommends Pro Polish as a finish application.

Great product

I used a well known product on my Whaler and was not completely satisfied with the results, so I purchased a container of Buff Magic. The shine that it brought out on my hull was amazing. With a buffer, it was easy on and easy off. And once polished it gave me a mirror like shine on my hull. I was so impressed with the results that I took several pictures. I highly recommend this product.

I bought a new/used boat for my charter business and it looked like a white chalk board one step with this buff magic. Throw the 3m compound out this is the answer!!

I used buff Magic you need to use a lot of it to get results. But the result are not as good as using Meguiar's PlastX the shine of this stuff looks like a new boat. I'll stick with PlastX.

It is really magical

I just got done using the Buff Magic on my 1990 233XL Regal Ambassador. The results are amazing !! Use the products as the directions describe and you too will be seriously impressed. I bought this boat after it set for two - three years and it the oxidation was horrendous to say the least. Used it on the chrome railings and even the steering wheel with optimal results. Tip: Use a polisher with the Buff Magic and follow behind with orbital when placing on the polish or boat wax. Pay attention to the types of pads that are recommended in the industry area.

Good for boats hulls in good shape.

Buff magic is OK. I used it with good results but not great results. I saw the ship shape show as well and bought the whole shabang...the buff magic, random orbital polisher, extra pads foam and wool, pro polish, bag and other misc stuff from them. It works and goes a long way. I had to go over it a few times to get satisfacotry results. But the random orbital unit is not powerful enough. I was in a boat yard where pros were polishing boats and they all used the 3M cutting compound and followed up with a wax or polish. They used a powerful grinder with large wool pad. The results they got were better than what I got and my boat was in better shape to start out with. Next season I am buying a real grinder and the pro equipment. The difference was dramatic and they were done well ahead of me. I think if your boat looks like new to start out with and you just need to polish it, this will be fine...but if you are trying to bring something back, go with what the pros use. (this is not it)

Use with Pro Polish for quality results

I have a 1987 Silverton 34c. When i bought it in '07 it looked like a chalk board. In '08 i used 3M products with ""okay"" results, that didn't last but half the season. The winter of '08-'09 i watched the ship-shape video of this product and read the rave reviews on the Silverton Owners Club website and wanted to give it a try. I used a 7"" angle polisher at low speed with a compound pad. Follow up with the Pro Polish for a mirror finish. 1-can of Buff Magic and 1-pint of Pro polish was enough to do the hull of my boat. In all my years as a boat owner, this have been the best product I have used yet in dealing with oxidized gelcoat. You'll be impressed with the results!

I used it on my boat after it sat for two years, It was the best wax out of all that I tried. I decided to try it after seeing it on ShipShapeTV. They explained that this wax is used by Sea Ray on there new boats. I recommend it to everyone.

Questions

1 - 9 of 9 Questions

Q: I have a one season old boat with both black and white finish. It's not oxidized at all, just water spots and a little haze. Should I or can I still use buff magic or is it for more severe surfaces? thanks, Keith

1 Answer

A: I would recommend a light polish like Totalboat Fiberglass Polish which is much lighter than Buff magic.

Q: Why Do I have to apply a wax over the Buff Magic surface?

4 Answers

A: The wax helps to seal, maintain, and protect the buffed gel-coat surface from the suns rays and other weather one may encounter when boating or just stored. It also gives it a longer lasting shine and slicker surface. It is the only way to go. I used Pro Polish to seal my 1993 Cobalt 200 after sanding with 1200 and buffing with Buff Majic. It looks like new!

Q: Buff magic the difference between white and pink?

2 Answers

A: There are very subtle differences between the Buff Magic white vs. pink. The pink breaks down a little further than the white, giving a bit more shine and depth. The pink was the original formula, and many original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) asked for a compound that would cut a little better, and they also wanted a white color for a cleaner appearance if any residue was left behind

Q: I would like to use this product on my 5th wheel RV but I'm concerned that it might harm the decals on the trailer. Any thoughts on this? Thanks, Dennis T

1 Answer

A: It will not hurt any decals but if you are using a power buffer you will need to be careful not to burn the decals at high speeds.

Q: i have a 1990 arriva thats has oxidation . do i need the pink or the white? thanks paul

1 Answer

A: The pink is what you want. I have a 2005 blue Sea Ray, it was very badly oxidized. The folks at the marina said I would never get it out. As they observed my progress their opinion changed but said the shine would not last. When Iarrived back to have my boat pulled last fall, they were amazed the shine lasted. I used a 7__quote__ polisher with a black pad. Good luck, Rick

Q: Hi, I was wondering how well the buff magic brings back the color. I have a yellow boat that fades very quickly and I've been using a heavy rubbing compound on it, but I would like to try something else. I was also wondering if the pink formula of buff magic would work ok on the yellow boat or should I get white? Thanks

A: I have a 69 Chriscraft Commander and have used Buff Majic for the last three years. Best shine that I have gotten with any polish system including McGuires three step. Not only on the off-white but it also worked wonders on the blue waterline strip.
