Product Details

TotalTread is a ready-mixed, slip-resistant polyurethane non-skid deck paint with unique Propyltex™ wax texturing agents. The rounded shape of Propyltex™ waxes provides optimum gloss control and is less abrasive compared to silica texturing agents found in most non-skid deck paints or additives.

Apply TotalTread by brush, roller, or spray equipment. You will love the grippy, but not abrasive, high-traction surface. Apply a second coat for even more grip.

Available in Quart and Gallon sizes in four colors: Sand Beige, Kingston Gray, and White (which match our TotalBoat Wet Edge Topside paint colors), and Light Gray, which is a lighter, less blue gray than Kingston Gray.

Info & Guides
Most non-skid deck paints rely on a 'sand' silica additive to provide grip. While they are certainly effective at providing secure footing, they have a few drawbacks: Scrub your deck too hard and the additive can become visible, leaving unsightly dark specks. The shape of traditional additives doesn't bond well with the paint, and the finish doesn't last all that long.

Our TotalTread is formulated to address these issues. Instead of a hard irregular shaped silica grit agent, TotalTread's wax rubber spheres are shock absorbing to give the finish some elasticity. The paint sticks better, and the finish looks better longer. It's easier to clean and won't wear away from scrubbing. And, because it's still a 1 part finish, it's easy to apply.

IMPORTANT APPLICATION NOTE

TotalBoat TotalTread should be applied in thin coats. 1-2 thin coats are recommended, for best results.

HOW TO RECOAT TOTALTREAD FOR MAINTENANCE PURPOSES

To apply maintenance coats of TotalTread after a few years of use/exposure, clean/dewax the surface and lightly scuff it with 220-grit or 320-grit sandpaper or a maroon Scotch-Brite pad. Scuffing will naturally knock some of the grit down. If it really needs to be sanded heavier, you'll be able to judge that as you're doing it. If anything, the grit usually wears down after a few years, making it a little easier to sand, but would require at least one, maybe two coats of TotalTread for a more true color and desired texture.

After using other paints that didn't adequately protect my deck from harsh Upstate NY winters, turned to Total Boat and was amazed by its performance. Thoroughly satisfied!

Great paint for my Mako deck.

This plant applies easily and looks great. I thinned it according to the directions and applied two coats. Drying time was longer than I expected, but I blame the weather and I wasn't in a rush. The way the paint was packaged for shipping was next level-not a single dent in the can or a single drop spilled.

I'm not sure I would recommend this product

The nonskid was easy to apply but after 5 days of drying the tips of my deck chairs left deep scuff marks in the paint. I hope after some more time the paint will harden more if not I will have to redo the whole deck.

Application was easy and it covered old blams very nicely. I like the non-skid properties - not sandy or gritty. Time will tell if this is a five star product. Let's see how it lives in the sun and how it handles use.

I wanted to touch up the swim platform and so I ordered a new can but when we got to the boatyard, it still looked great after three years. Very durable and quick drying.
