I have owned a 1986 Bayliner for coming up on one year now. Soon after opening the stateroom and head hatches close to half of the mounting feet broke from age. There is nothing wrong with the dogs, but there is no way to replace the feet! One day I will find an extruded metal channel to make some from, or find a manufacturer to update the design and mold a run of a few hundred.

Bombar cast hatches are still the gold standard for offshore boats. They dog tight, are field repairable and parts are readily available. The dogs are dependable, and while they can break at the pins, we have sailed our boat with these hatches for over 58000 nautical miles and never had a failure. We do stock replacement dogs as they are field replaceable, needing just a roll pin punch to drive out the roll pin. We refit yachts for circumnavigations and the Bomar cast hatch is our first choice for safety and strength . MRP Refits

Tie Down Dogs

Both Tie Down Dogs broke within a couple months. I wish there was s heavier duty way to secure my forward hatch. Right niw it is wired shut which creates a otibkem for ventilation as well as a safety problem since there is no escape in case of fire.

Q: I have a 2000 silverton 351 sedan, me forward cabin has 2 elliptical portholes with rectangular dimecios of18 3/8"" x 7 3/4"". The white ring is approximately 1"" wide the dogs rigt tab have broken sò the pin holding the bolt down are no longer viable. How do i reve the white ring ...will it fall in the water? Is ther a new hardware that enable the window to be dogged down. I have been a bomar customer but believe the matrial or design was faulty. Q: We have a 1994 Crown Line 225 CCR with a Bomar Hatch in the top of the cuddy cabin. We have a cracked window and I need all the components to adjust the hatch open and the locking devices to securely close the hatch. The Bomar serial number on the hatch is #92038152. I have a Bomar hatch catalog but can not determine the correct hatch or required latching cpmponents. I would prefer not to purchase the complete hatch, but if necessary I will. Please advise as soon as possible. :)

Q: I have ( 1979) Bomar 100 series hatches on my boat. Are the lids easily removed by knocking out the pins holding the lid to the base?

Q: Hi I have a 2002 seaswirl with a bowmar round hatch, I need a riser arm, the inside dimension is 17"" . The hatch it self is 23"" metal outside, and the glass is 20"". Which part number do I need.

A: Any type of marine glue should work however if there is a crack in the plastic or if it's truly worn better to replace it.
