Product Details

3M 5200 is a one-part marine sealant that cures to form a firm, rubbery waterproof seal. When fully cured, this high strength adhesive remains flexible to resist vibration, swelling, shrinking, or shock.

This permanent adhesive is a strong solution for a variety of marine applications. Use 5200 marine sealant on wood, fiberglass, hardware, seams, joints, between struts, hull fittings, and planking stern joints. Bond or seal fiberglass deck to hull, wood to fiberglass, portholes and deck fittings, motors on fiberglass transoms, under moldings, hull seams above and below water line, centerboard trunk joints, between struts and planking, stern joints and more.

Apply with a manual caulking gun. Sealant remains workable with a trowel or spatula for up to four hours, and won't sag or flow in vertical or horizontal seams.

Choose from White, Black, Tan, and Mahogany for color. 10 oz cartridge shown. Additional sizes available for White and Black.

Info & Guides
This high performance polyurethane adhesive sealant becomes tack-free in 24-48 hours, and completely cures in 5-7 days with no shrinking. The seal is extremely strong, retaining its strength above or below the waterline. 5200 stays flexible and allows for structural movement.

Consider using 5200 Fast Cure instead if the quickest possible cure rate is a consideration. It has slightly less tensile strength, but provides full cure in as little as 24 hours.

Q: null I need 4 cases (48, 10-1/2oz) tubes of mahogany 3M 5200. I can purchase it online from several locations for as little as $18.22/tube. Your price is $22.51/tube. That is over a $200 difference. I have other items I am already purchasing from you and wondering if you can meet competitive offerings?

A: Sorry JD does not have a price match policy. 3M does not give us a price break on case lots of the mahogany sealant, that is why it costs more.

Q: null This product (3M 5200), can I apply this to a small crack to my aluminum boat ? Thanks

A: I'd say it would only work short term. It will peel off aluminum. I've seen various miracle repair tape that might be a better choice, if you can handle the duct tape look...

Q: null Can it be painted?

1 Answer

A: I did not try to paint over it, and no information on the product cartridge mentions painting. Calling the company should help***.****). I'll say one thing - it's held my fiberglass attic louvers in place, including during a hurricane.

Q: null best adhesive for to install rub rail?

1 Answer

A: I used it more for a sealant than a bonding adhesive. As such it is over a year old and still in perfect condition. It also holds paint well. And I did use it as a sealant under a couple deck fittings and it is in fine shape there. Don't think this is much help for your question but it is the best I can offer......John
