I am sure I will buy it again, and have already told others

I found this really easy to measure, mix and use. I liked that I could make up as much as I needed as I needed it. I have used other similar products and this is the one I will use again. It was very easy to apply, set up well and was difficult to sand, which I feel is a good thing. Tough stuff.

Easy and quick to mix. Just a little sag, I like the white finish on my deck as I do not feel the need to paint (matched my deck paint).

Excellent product for ease because of the 1:1 mix ratio and the smoothness when applied. It sands fast and easily as well.I recently used the product fill in over 200 ground out bottom blisters on a 60' fiberglass bottom.

Questions

Q: Can I sand smooth and paint over it what paint can I use

1 Answer

A: It's a structural filler so it's kind of hard to sand, but it is doable. Use any kind of paint you want but follow their directions. You may want to check out Pettit EZpoxy paint.

Q: Looking to use Pettit EZ-Tex Epoxy Compound to repair nicks in gelcoat and fill gouges where fiberglass is visible. Once cured and sanded, can I apply Total Boat Works gelcoat over the repairs to blend color?

3 Answers

A: The TotalBoat Gelcoat application guide has instructions for applying it over epoxy, which requires special treatment. While EZ Tex is excellent for structural repairs, the density makes it less than ideal for a fairing filler. TotalBoat structural repair putty or thickening the gelcoat with silica would probably be a better choice.

Q: Can this be used to fill the scrapes on the keel? The deepest spot is about 1 inch deep. The scrape is about 18 inches long. Should I clean loose fibers from the area or leave them for added strength?

A: Sorry, I have not used this product, but if the cut is that deep, it's probably best to keep as much mechanically retentive surface as is reasonably possible and fill it by alternating a few layers of fiberglass mat and epoxy. From Norman Stump mobile phone.
