Product Details

Hutchins Longboards are lightweight, flexible, and rugged. They feature a cushioned surface with spring clips at each end. Longboards are used to cover large areas when sanding and finishing to save time and energy. Use 2-3/4" x 17-1/2" Paper or 2-3/4" x 16-1/2" PSA (pressure sensitive adhesive) sandpaper.

I purchased Wet Edge Two part epoxy primer, Wet Edge Top coat and Wet Edge Faring Compound. I am restoring a 1964 17 foot Boston Whaler. I used the products on the Whaler with great success. When i called the sraff was very knowledgable and helpful.

I'm using this to fair a 24' boat hull I'm building. It works good and it comffortable. I wish it could have been about 4"" longer for this project but still adequate enough to use. For longer ones I make my own.

Board Fine 3M 17-1/2 too short !

As said in another review of this product..... the long board is fine. The sandpaper that Jamestown is recommending is not long enough unless you cut the cushioned surface front and back..... You would think that Jamestown would do better in matching a suitable paper to the board .... Shame

Concerns about use of this longboard

I attempted to use this product with 2-3/4 x 17-1/2 long board sand paper and was not succeesful. It will utilize PSA paper. To use the longer paper one needs to cut the rubber foam backing from the ends and under the clip.

Only way to sand the Bottom of a boat

You need a nice flexible longboard if your looking for a fast and fair bottom. It nice to be able to get the contour correct to avoid flat spots.

Q: Has the question of paper comparability been solved. How about 3m 80 grit roll paper?

A: Can't really answer the question because I found the board too stiff for my purposes. It does not flex enough and I have not used it. A poor purchase for me, but might be good for you.
