Too expensive by far

$58 is an outrageous price for a strip of aluminum, two screws and wooden block. Realized I could have created the same tool with a wide bladed putty knife and a piece of sandpaper.

The Right Tools Make All the Difference

Removed caulk from my sailboat teak toe rail last October 2018 without the aid of these simple but important TDS tools. Doing additional work on the toe rail this summer with these tools--so much better!

it works ok but you need so much sand paper may be better if you could turn the paper upside down after the lower side is used,,,

Really useful specialty tool for teak de

With no instructions, it takes a few moments of puzzling to figure out just how to use this tool. Once that's done, it does what is supposed to do very well - cleaning out rough spots and left over caulk in deck seams to prepare them for recaulking. Greatly speeds up otherwise tedious job.

Seam Sander

One of the screw holes stripped out, i.e. the insert spun in the block sander the first time I tried to tighten the screw. Frustrating when you spend that kind of $$$ on a product.

Q: null For teak decking system why do you place tape at the bottom of the seam?

A: Take a look at the TDS website video for an explanation. Personally I don't use the tape as I want the seal to go all the way down. Btw, the TDS reefing hook works very well. Russ

Q: null how many feet are the seam sander sanding pads good for?

A: Hey Terry, great question....I'm in the process of refurbing a 46 double cabin...400+ sq ft of deck...answer all depends on how you're replacing the rubber grout. Some of my areas (30%) are worn down to the notch, or groove some call it, so in those areas I'm using a skill saw to Re notch....no need to sand there since I have fresh wood...where I'm just regrouting I'm making the decision whether I'm digging out old and sanding or routing out difficult areas. Little spot sanding in routing areas, lot in areas I've had to tool out. I'm a 1/4 through and am still on first 6 pack of sanding strips. Ready to order more soon. Hope this helped. Best of luck!

A: This is a hand sander that you run the blade type sander part in the groves to remove any remaining caulk.
