Product Details

Epifanes Easy-Flow is designed primarily as a flow enhancer, Easy Flow may also be used as a wood sealer or a rust inhibitor. Based on a selection of natural oils, Easy-Flow may be added at a rate of 5-10 percent by volume to all conventional single part and half synthetic paints and varnishes to improve the flowing characteristics in conditions that are less then ideal. Easy-Flow will extend the wet edge time and reduce the possibility of lap or brush marks.

Easy-Flow will inhibit rust when applied to ferrous metals. It has the ability to penetrate thin layers of rust, and makes an excellent base for subsequent coatings of rust preventing systems such as Epifanes Werdol Metal Primer.

Q: I add both Epiphanes 1 part primer and Flood Penetrol to Epiphanes High Gloss varnish to improve flow and lessen ""brush marks"" and brush drag. Will this product work as well and eliminate need for Penetrol? Also I use 10-20% thinner with Epiphanes High Gloss varnish and add ""cap full"" of penetrol to 75-80 cc varnish. What per cent easy flow to 75 cc varnish and 10% thinner

1 Answer

A: Easy flow would be a good substitute for Penetrol. The manufacturer makes no recommendations in regard to using it with thinned varnish but up to 10% can be applied to unthinned varnish. Datasheet link: https://www.epifanes.com/related/f43657ef-48bb-452b-874c-16e24ea5e824.pdf

Q: Will Easy Flow cause Epifane varnish to be more prone to runs and/or sags. Will it help reduce air bubbles.

A: My experience was quite the opposite. Easy Flow tamed the varnish completely, no runs, no sags, no bubbles. I don't think I'll ever varnish again without putting in some Easy Flow. And, no, I don't work for them. DCL, Jacksonville, FL

A: If your spray adjusting pressure and volume will usually correct orange peel but yes this will slow the surface evaporation but adjust to prevent runs from long open time.
