Q: Can you use brass fittings with these aluminium filters or could this cause corrosion issues?

1 Answer

A: Contact between the aluminum alloys and copper, as well as copper alloys (bronze, brass) leads to very little galvaniccorrosion of aluminum when exposed to atmospheric conditions. Recommend using Teflon tape or a sealant to help with further electrical insulation and sealing… -Rich Langdon

Q: I have a 20 foot Boston Whaler center console want to move the raycor filter up to the center counsel from the stern will it work up there on my 200 horsepower Mercury carbureted engine moving it forward

1 Answer

A: I don't see why it wouldn't work but I can think of several reasons not to do it. 1) unless your fuel tank is forward of your console you will be significantly lengthening the fuel lines. I like to empty the filter, bowl, and fuel line back to the tank at the end of the season and I wouldn't want to be spilling fuel around the center console to do it. 2) In the rare event of a fire emergency, I wouldn't want to be sitting right beside a half pint or more of gasoline. 3) extra fuel line means extra chances for it to get kinked, crushed, or whatever the North Atlantic is going to try on me next. On my 18 foot Lund, the filter is mounted high on the left side of the transom…a bit awkward when trying to purge it, but any spilled gas drains right out the hole next to it. Best…D

Q: HOW TO DRAIN FILTER?

1 Answer

A: Very easy. A screw operated valve is built into the clear bowl below the filter. You loosen this screw and the contents of the bowl drain out. Tighten the valve back up when you're done.
