Stronger and tougher than fiberglass

Tougher but not impossible to cut.Sharp scissors w/ small, short snips.Don`t use a razor blade.Painer`s tape to keep the ends from freying.Use like you would with any fiberglass cloth.

Q: who is the manufacture of the this tape?

A: Not sure. I used the tape to repair the stern on a royalex canoe. It cut fine, Also wetted out too. I trust James town.

Q: Can I use this kevlar tape to reinforce the bottom of my kayak?
12 years ago3 Answers
A: I'm not a fiberglass expert, however I do on occasion build small duckboats for friends. Kevlar isn't something for novices as it can't be sanded. However, it's strength to weight ratio is excellent. You might want to consider speaking to your local surfboard builders. Best of luck.

Q: A structural engineer suggested to me that the kevlar tape could be used to reinforce concrete if it is applied with epoxy adhesive to the surface. The concrete in my application is a 6__quote__ cap poured over a basement. We don't know anything about the steel reinforcement - so the engineer thought the tape would mitigate any weakness in the slab. What do you think ?

A: Hi, concrete is very strong in compression and steel is added to help with tension strength. So it would seem if you can make sure the kevlar is on the tension side of the concrete, then it might help. How to bond to the surface might be difficult and would require some experimentation.
