1/4 in Bronze Carriage Bollts

It would be good to sell 1/4 -20 2"" silicon bronze carriage bolts indivually instead of $320 per box. I need about 1/2 dozen.

Bronze hardware

Where I live getting marine hardware is almost impossible. Jamestown has been for years my choice for quality brass and bronze bolts and screws. As pleased with selection, quality, and price.

A: Unfortunately we do not have any 6"" ones in stock to measure. I looked at the 4-1/2"", 5"" and 7"" and these sizes have roughly 2.5"" of thread, and the rest is shank.

Q: what grade of bolts are these?

A: As you seem to know, steel nuts and bolts come in various grades or hardnesses that can have safety implications, depending on the use, though I could not explain it beyond that. I've never seen any __quote__grades__quote__ noted for bronze or brass. Bronze or silicon bronze is supposedly a bit stronger than brass. I have seen 1/4 x 7 inch bronze or brass carriage bolts deform under stress, as in old style Sunfish rudder tiller assemblies. I'm under the impression people use bronze or brass when corrosion resistence, not great strength, is the goal. If you need both, stainless steel may be a better option. Hope this is helpful.
