Product Details

3M 4200 Fast Cure is a one-part general purpose polyurethane sealant with fast curing and good adhesion to wood, fiberglass, gelcoat, plastic, and metal. When cured, 4200 forms weather-resistant, watertight seals on joints and boat hardware above or below the waterline. Designed to endure marine conditions, maintain joint movement, and absorb shock caused by swelling, shrinking, or shock. Ideal for sealing portholes, deck and hull fittings, screw holes, and other marine applications.

4200FC is easy to paint and sand after full cure. While 3M 5200 sealant results in permanent bonds, 4200 has approximately half the strength, making it a good choice for applications where the bond may need to be broken in the future such as replacing hardware.

Size displayed is 10 oz. cartridge. Choose white or black and either 3oz and 10 oz cartridge sizes.

Product was old and hardened - not happy

This product arrived in a new package. All looked well. I have used this product many times in the past. HOWEVER, little did I know, this was old product that had likely been sitting Jamestown Distributors shelves for many a moon. Have written to them but have not heard from them. I bought two tubes of this product and both worth worthless.

Great temporary repair for truck floor!

I used this to repair some rust holes in the floor of my truck as a temporary repair. I simply dried it out, gave it a good vacuuming and applied it and it adhered incredibly well, much better than standard silicone would have...

Just what I needed....

I was looking for a durable product to use on an project that is highly exposed to sun, salt and water in the Bahamas. I figured this would be the best solution and it needed to be black in color. Only wish it was sold in smaller quantities so that application wouldn't require a caulking gun.

Great stuff

I used this to repair the tiles that had fallen off my inground pool at the water line. Great stuff. Have to use w/in 24 hrs of opening but is workable for awhile after I placed the tile. By the next morning, it was on for good. DO NOT get this on your hands. If you do-I used goofoff til I couldn't stand the burning anymore then it took a couple of days to wear off. I did notice it wore off really quick after I scrubbed my bathtub-I have no idea why. By the way-I am a woman so you can do this too.

3M 4200 Sealant as caulk for bathroom

After many years of unsatisfactory results using hardware store/home center caulks, I spent the big money and went with a marine product. I selected the 4200 over the 5200 because I wanted to be able to remove the caulk for future repairs etc. This sealant applied nicely and remained workable for a nice long time for touching up. I tooled the sealant with my finger dipped into a small bowl with a bar of ivory soap and water and kept a mineral spirits soaked rag to keep my hands clean and wipe up stray sealant. When tooling the caulk, I first pushed it in place and used very light force when wiping it to keep from pulling it away and wasting material. The result was a beautiful smooth and tidy bead. I check back in a year to report the durability as other caulks never make it a year, especially in my tile wall/tile floor shower stall.

Excellent on fiberglass sailboat

Repaired seam between hull and deck on older sailboat. Easy to apply, worked very well, and took a coat of paint. Very pleased. Dries fast.

Successful use on a Fiberglass pool

I used the 4200 sealant to seal the seams in a fiberglass swimming pool. I also used the product to attach loose tile around the border of the pool. Both applications have been in use for Three years and are holding up well.

A: Can't say for certain on 4200 but I can get 5200 to last a week or two after opening if I cover the end of the applicator very tightly with vinyl electrical tape. Try to keep air from reaching the compound.

Q: null Does 3M 4200 sealant come in clear or white only and do you stock a smaller size. And/or how long will the product keep. I am only installing a new inspection port, drain bung assembly and replacing fairlead and a cleat with eyepad mounts for blocks and a double cam cleat on my laser. (white hull/deck) Previous repairs by others white sealent was used and it has a yellowish dirty tint to it. Seems like the clear would be a better choice?
