Product Details
Sea-Hawk Cukote's high loading of cuprous oxide makes it a suitable antifouling paint for use in the most severe fouling areas. As an ablative, self-polishing coating, there is no buildup of bottom paint over time. Your hull's underwater surface remains smooth and clean.
Cukote copolymer can also withstand removal from water without affecting its antifouling properties.

Good for 2 years on Chesapeake Bay

I've been using this paint for 10 years on my 40' sailboat with a home port in the South Chesapeake Bay. It keeps barnacles off for 2 years. I use a Scrubby ~ once per month in summertime to remove slime.

Rolled it on nice and easy. Don't suggest using a foam roller.

Solid 2-3 year ablative coating for fresh water.

I have used this product for 5 years now and I am on my second application. My boat sits in a fresh water harbor with quite dirty water. We haul every fall and pressure spray clean up is a snap. The green color compliments the flag blue hull color as well.

I get 2 years between hauling out with this paint on Chesapeake Bay - with very little hull scrubbing in between.

Very effective for 2 years.

I have used this paint for years. It lasts 2 good years on Chesapeake Bay without annual hauling out. I just scrub one foot below the waterline one or twice per summer to remove the slime. I probably could even get 3 years with this paint... And it is easy to apply; 2 coats, 2 days, and back in the water!

Q: null Ive been using JD Spartan but several local boaters in the SW Florida Gulf waters area siggest I try Spartan cukote. Is Cukote compatible with JD Spartan? Or will I need to completely remove the JD product before applying Seahawk Cukoye?

A: You can apply SeaHawk Cukote over TB Spartan, just sand with 80 grit clean and apply.

Q: null Hi, What is the recommended type paint roller for this paint ?
6 years ago4 Answers
A: You can either use a traditional roller (with short ""hair"") or a foam roller. To get a smoother finish, a person should follow behind the roller to point the paint (i.e., to smooth out using a wet (i.e., dipped in paint) paint brush). You should try to apply a heavier coat in those areas more prone to undesirable growth (first foot below the waterline). Or you may just apply an additional coat to these areas. The type of roller is far less important than thoroughly mixing the paint before application. The copper will have settled in the can and a vigorous stirring is required to put it all back in suspension. Any hardware/paint store should have a special ""paddle"" that you can affix to a power drill to help mixing the thick paint.

Q: null Can I use this product on an aluminum boat ?
8 years ago1 Answer
A: No, Cukote contains copper which will pit the aluminum. Use Interlux Trilux, or Totalboat Krypton which don't have copper as the biocide.

Q: null We had Cukote put on bottom this Spring but hauled due to Hurricane last week. Boat in river and bottom a bit brown. I used Scotch Brite to clean and am thinking about putting one coat of Cukote on before we put her back in. For a Bristol 47 sailboat, how much Cukote do you estimate for one coat? thanks
