Awlgrip Polyester Urethane Topcoat Base - Quart

Quart sizes of Awlgrip Polyester Urethane Topcoat Base Paint. Also available in Gallon sizes.

Awlgrip paints yield durable high gloss finishes to wood, fiberglass, aluminum, or steel, and may be applied with a paint roller, brush or spray gun. Renowned for their superior resistance to sun, saltwater, chemicals, abrasion, and other harsh marine elements. Awlgrip high-performance paints are ideal for coating everything above the waterline - from boat topsides, cabin tops, decks, and masts.

Choose from 60 Awlgrip topcoat paint colors or create your own. For help with customization or color selection, contact us for additional assistance and a FREE color chart.

Important note: Awlgrip is a 2-part professional paint system, requiring both a base and a converter, along with proper surface preparation, mixing, and application. For spraying, use Awl-Cat #2 converter. For brushing, use Awl-Cat #3 converter. (Converters are sold separately)

just applied this paint over the weekend. High gloss and great workability. Used the brush and tip method, came out great. Wish I had the time to sand between coats but the finish product looks great.

Wouldn't buy again

Been using Awlgrip for many yrs. painted the stern with Jade Mist Green and it looked terrible, brush strokes that didn't flow out. When I called tech support the expert said that JM green is the worst for flow out. I ended up repainting with Aristo blue which came out great! Now I have a 90 percent full $100 quart of paint I can't use

Just had my boat painted and looks great but God forbid if you can get a technical support answered. Their Website has a TS number which no one answers and no one responds to a voicemail. The email names for the regions bounce back as undeliverable.

I wouldn't buy this paint again.

I rolled on the paint and the next day started to sand it, but the dust from sanding glued itself to the paper and then back on to the hull. Which I then had to pull off. It never really seemed to properly set up. And so I painted it again without sanding. Then a week later when we launched her, the slings adhered to the paint and the paint was damaged. It just never set up right. Which was a bummer. And expensive.

By no means do I know how to spray paint. I got a free sprayer with by compressor and had never used it. Mix this product exactly as the can indicates, practice on a flat board, dial-in your spray gun to ""your"" pace and you will really enjoy the process and finish.

Q: Do you know the correct color paint that Cobia ( 2017 26.1 cc) boats use to power coat their tubing for T Top? It is not a pure white more of an off white/cream

Q: How can Awlgrip colors be slightly modified to match existing Awlgrip paint. My boat was painted with Stars and Stripes blue several years ago. I want to paint a few damaged spots on the boat.

Q: my decks were professionally painted in moon dust color using awlgrip. is there a one part DIY system that I can use on other parts of the boat using the exact or close to matching color

A: Benjamin Moore has a urethane alkyd enamel called'Super Spec' which is custom mixed using a chip of your Awl Grip. I used gloss enamel but the store can mix it 'satin' if you prefer.

A: Snow White is the purest white and it dwarfs all others... Snow White Revisited (H8431) is the brightest white.

A: Awlgrip is a 2 part paint for above the waterline. It requires a good deal of prep then priming with 2 part primer, then multiple coats of final finish coat. After that you can put whatever you want on top. You mention Intergrip so I assume you will be applying nonskid to your deck? Leroi

A: I would not recommend this paint. It took so long to dry that even after a week when my sailboat was put in the water it came off where the straps of the lifts came in contact with the boat. It seems I either got a bad batch that just never hardened in a timely way.

Q: The flag blue awlgrip hull on my boat was scuffed over the winter by the zipper on my cover. There is a 4-6"" diameter circular rash down to the gray primer just above the boot stripe. Is there a simple awlgrip touch up kit I can purchase to touch this up or do I need to buy a full quart of awlgrip topcoat and reducer? Looking for the easiest/quickest repair with an eye to repainting the entire hull several years from now. Regards, Steve B
