Product Details

Semco Teak Wood Sealer waterproofs and protects teak furniture and marine wood surfaces. This durable protectant maintains a protective coating through winter, eliminating the need for deep cleaning. Semco teak wood sealant goes on easy, dries quickly, and provides a non-slip finish.

Keeping exposed teak looking its best is challenging. Varnishes aren't ideal as the natural oils of this wood can cause blistering or peeling. Most common teak protectants are solvent and linseed oil based, and oxidize over time. The oxidation of surface oils causes teak wood to appear weathered or gray.

Semco teak sealer contains UV protection and a mildewcide to eliminate these problems. It can also be used to seal other woods such as cedar, oak, and pine, though you will need to varnish over it on those woods to achieve a glossy finish.

Choose from three popular shades: Cleartone for a clear finish, Natural for golden tan glow, and Goldtone for reddish-brown luster. Available in Quart and Gallon sizes.

Info & Guides

Technical Information

  • Many sealers promise to protect wood and repel water. Semco does it without the side effect of creating a slippery surface.
  • Withstands staining, weathering and discoloring up to a year.
  • Because the treatment is easily renewed and usually lasts a season, you won't have to endure tedious deep cleaning normally associated with teak restoration
  • Manufacturer coverage specifications: 1 gallon Coverage is approx 200 sq ft for 1st coat or 400 sq ft for the 2nd coat.
  • Cleartone contains no pigment, looks like oil, and is not as weather resistant as the other shades.
  • Natural imparts a golden-tan glow to the wood that resembles slightly weathered teak.
  • Goldtone produces the reddish-brown luster of teak that has been freshly sanded.

Sent GoldtoneTeak Sealer

I used 2 coats on the rockers as they were older. Just one coat on the adirondack chairs as they were new. Will follow up with another coat later. The Semco sealer is great!

We have used a half and half mixture of Goldtone and Natural on our teak decks for the last ten years. Our 40 year old decks look almost new!

Older teak

Just finished resurfacing older teak deck. Very carefully skimmed off proud caulking with sharp 3/4"" chisel. I am a woodworker and am experienced with chisels. Way faster than sanding, quieter and very precise to protect surrounding delicate areas. Random orbital sand 80 still necessary but half the time. I previously washed and moderately scrubbed with cleaner and brightener. My aim was to knock the grain down mostly but to get absolutely flat would have removed way too much material. Two coats natural sealer went on very quickly and easily. Coat 1 absorbed pretty dramatically coat 2 somewhat less so. Foam brush didn't carry sufficient material and used 2"" nylon brush which allowed me to work into the surface better and faster. Results are decent and am quite pleased with apparently harder, easily cleaned surface and food is not leaving oil spots as much. There is little doubt maintenance coats will be necessary over time. Please be aware this material is very thin and can splatter if windy. Also note the natural has very little pigment and do not expect it to hide all of the grey oxidation in the deep grain of older decks which is very difficult to completely eliminate. Perhaps the darker tone would but I was afraid of it looking more splotchy. I like the results very much and like the drier harder surface more than oil for this older deck. In cases where I could have sanded more aggressively I probably would have used the darker colors but I did not have that option in this case as previous owners had already done a number and removed a fair amount of material. Bottom line, good stuff that I plan to stick with regularly…….spring, mid summer, maybe fall if I am still interested. Might go darker subsequent coats.

Great Product

I really like this product. I sanded down my teak deck, cleaned it up and applied two coats of the natural tone with a foam brush followed by a rag. A little bit of this goes a long way, you can apply the second coat immediately after the first and it turns a very pretty golden brown.

I used their honey color stain and used this sealer for several of our teak furniture that we have had for over 15 years. I cleaned the teak first, using their teak cleaner combo.
