Product Details

Sika 291 is a fast-cure marine adhesive/sealant that bonds well to wood, metals, painted surfaces, and most plastics. Boat builders and marine technicians use this all-purpose adhesive for a variety of marine applications. Safe to use above and below the waterline. Use the marine-grade sealant to bond structural boat components, create waterproof seals, and reduce vibration impact.

Polyurethane sealant comes with a nozzle to easily apply. Cure times depend on caulk thickness and ambient weather, but typically cures within 1 to 4 days for watertight seal. The fast strength build-up can then be painted and sanded for final touches. Available in black and white.

NOTE: SIK-291201W is a 20oz. Sausage Pack, which is NOT compatible with standard caulking guns.

Used this on underwater seams where the plank ends meet the transom. Really good adhesion, very flexible. I'll use this wherever I used to use Life- Caulk, much better. I fully recommend this for bedding fixtures and hardware also. Good stuff!

On ordering these items, I have always ordered white from every vendor. When I ordered these I made sure I noted white as color of choice. When I got order they were black in color. Product was coded incorrectly and now I have a case of a product I cant use.

Since I only need small amounts of the product at a time I use a nail to puncture the tube just ahead of the plunger. That way when the plunger passes the hole the tube is resealed automatically.

    Sikaflex for bonding Treadmaster

Used Sikaflex to bond Treadmaster non-skid material onto a rebuilt bridgedeck. Used a trowel to spread evenly - an easier task than I thought it would be. Sikaflex was less ""runny"" than I anticipated so clean-up was a breeze as there was little mess.

Not only for marine applications but for interior as well for bathroom, kitchen, washroom...perfect to keep woods dry from termites. In the trash goes that old hardware store caulking. The reliability and longevity of this caulking is GREAT !!

    great fix for plastic boats

I used it to make a repair on an old coleman canoe. It is as easy to use as silicone, but much more durable. I have been trying different things on this boat for years, and I finally found something that works.

    Great value

Been building a boat for personal use. This product is much easier to use then resin and holds very well. THe wood pulls apart before the joint gives. Read great things about it on other builds. Allows more time to work. excess is easily cleaned up with a rag and putty knife after screwing joints together. I will definetly buy this for the next boat.

Q: I received the SikaFlex White 291, 3-0z tube in my order (#S4145064), and half the tube was solid, and would not squeeze out the nozzle. This made it very difficult to squeeze out any caulk from the tube. I did manage to get maybe 1/2 oz squeezed out, but the remaining caulk is worthless. How can I get another tube of this caulk that is not hard inside?

    1 Answer

A: The tube should have a batch number and possibly an expiration date or date of manufacture. Please email a photo of the batch and date to info@JamestownDistributors.com. Be sure to include your order number.

Q: We have aluminum framed bi-fold shower doors that were screwed and caulked to the teak frame of the shower opening. The original caulk appears to be silicone and it was beginning to leak between the frame and the wood. I've removed door, cleaned off the old caulk and am looking for a recommendation on what caulk to use for the reinstall. The caulk/sealant is not just a bead on the inside face of the frame to wood joint. It is also used as bedding between the frame and the wood.

    1 Answer

A: Sika 291 would be a good adhesive for this application. You may also want to use Sika Akivator to clean the substrates, 215 primer for the wood and 206G+P for the aluminum.

Q: Can I use this to seal my lapstrakes on my 57 Lyman as an added precaution, or what do you recommend. I bought you fairing compound and epoxy sealer. Thanks

A: The Sikaflex 291 is not so much a ""coating"" but a bonding agent to adhere plexiglass, fiberglass, metal, wood, whatever together extremely well. Especially when used with the Sikaflex cleaner and primer system. -----------------------------------------From: ""Jamestown Distributors""

A: been using Sikaflex for 30 years now--IT IS THE BEST--best way to do a job is to tape out the area--push the edges down well--this will give you a professional look--if you smudge use lacquer thinner

Q: how difficult is it to remove this product and does it remain flexible when cured ?

    5 Answers

A: I did not try to remove it so cannot answer that question it is tough to remove from your hands so wear latex gloves. I found this to be a great product. It does stay flexible. I used it to repair long cracks in the bottom of my Coleman canoe. After the Sikaflex dried I went over that with construction adhesive to make the repair more durable. I have not had a leak since although you need to reapply the construction adhesive from time to time as it tends to start peeling off.

Q: Can this be used to seat and seal a forward deck window on a Hunter 295?

    4 Answers

A: I would say yes. I used it to reseal the side ports on my boat and it's held up nice and watertight for several years now. 3m's 5200 makes a tighter seal, but the window could never be removed again. I found this product to make just as good a waterproof seal, but you can remove it if necessary. One thing I have to stress though, is make sure that all surfaces are good and clean and free from wax. I used lacquer thinner to get rid of any oil, etc...

Q: Can this be used to seal hull seams in an old wooden boat? I am looking to seal the oily, problem areas lower and near the stern. I would use 5200 but I am looking for something less expensive and less permanent.
