I repaired a crack in a fiberglass shower unit. It worked very well. Sanded easily and with 2 coats of Homax tub & tile epoxy looks like new.

Q: null WSY-1016 Kit. How much resin and fiberglass are in this kit and is it suitable for surfboard repair? Thank you, Harry

1 Answer

A: Check the information at the West System web site. Scroll to the bottom kit. Each of the packets of resin and hardener has about one ounce. It should be fine for a surfboard. I used it on a fiberglass canoe. Larger kits are available.

Q: null Do you have refill packs for west epoxy kit__quote__?

2 Answers

A: My kit came with 3 or 4 packets of epoxy and I was able to use the kit on several different small projects. Not sure if you can order the packs separately, but after shopping around I felt this kit was the best deal to avoid wasting any of the product. West systems epoxy seems to be expensive wherever you find it.

A: I wish I could help but have only done several small jobs with it, fill in holes, do corners. As it says on the package small repairs if it is put on thin mayby 2 or 3 sq ft. but not that much mat. with it. Jim

Q: null Is the WSY-1016 (large) kit enough to cover a 2__quote__ by 6__quote__ rectangular section of my shower floor? Also, the shower floor is a light brown color - how can I match the color?

2 Answers

A: Yes, the size would be enough. Sorry I don't know about how to match the color on a shower floor. I used my in an ornamental fountain and painted it, but I don't think paint would be strong enough for a shower.

A: Once the two portions are mixed, the resin is light amber, but clear. There is no filler with this product.

Q: null I have to repair a couple of dips in my kitchen floor where the sub floor got wet and dipped down between the floor joists. Probably down about 3/8 __quote__, and about 4 feet long. Floor is strong but when it dried out it stays down a little. What I want to do is fill in the dip on top of the linoleum and put down some vinyl floor tiles so I need something that has some good tinsel strength and able to bond to the existing linoleum. Can you help? Thanks, Charles

A: Charles - with the WEST system they do sell or market by weight instead they use volume. Also I am not familiar with the repair kit as I use their resin and hardner with an additive to thicken it. It is mixed in a container, plastic, by hand using a stick. The resin and hardner come in metal cans and are dispensed through the use of their proprietary pumps, therefore you can mix as much or as little as you desire. Remember there is a pot life of about 20 minutes which is influenced by temperature.
