Product Details

WEST SYSTEM G/flex 655 Thickened Epoxy Resin is an toughened adhesive designed for permanent waterproof bonding of fiberglass, ceramics, metals, plastics, damp and difficult-to-bond woods. Build and repair even in harsh marine conditions, including underwater repairs, restoring canoes and kayaks, and wetting out fiberglass.

G/flex epoxy is resilient enough to bond dissimilar materials and flexible enough to absorb the stress of expansion, contraction, shock and vibration. The simple 1:1 mix ratio of epoxy and hardener makes application a breeze, with a non-sagging formula to improve bond strength and minimize waste.

Choose from 3 different sizes of resin/hardener kits: 8 oz., 2 Quart, and 2 Gallon.

Info & Guides

G/flex is a tough, resilient epoxy engineered for a superior grip to metals, plastics, glass, masonry, fiberglass, and wet and difficult-to bond woods.

It is currently available in two versions: G/flex 650 Epoxy (sold separately, a two-part (resin and hardener) liquid epoxy, and G/flex 655 Thickened Epoxy Adhesive with a thickening agent already added.

G/flex is easy to use with a simple 1:1 mix ratio. It has a long open working time of 45 minutes at room temperature. G/flex reaches a working cure in 7-10 hours and a full cure in 24 hours.

Q: I need to fill a screw hole to be water tight in a fiberglass boat. Can I use the G-flex 655 or am I better to use the Six10? I willl not need to re-screw the hole. And I have just one screw hole to fix.

    1 Answer

A: Six10 is not currently available but you could use TotalBoat Thixo. Gflexx would be ok but a more expensive solution. Also take a look at Pettit EZ Tex

Q: Can you use a syringe to suck up and apply G/flex 655 ?

    3 Answers

A: It can be hard to draw into a syringe. You can take the syringe apart and pour a small amount of mixed epoxy into the tube and then reinsert the plunger. Thixoflex is a similar product that comes in a caulking gun cartridge and mixes in the tip as you inject it.

Q: Intended use - filler on Teak small cracks and Joints. Can Flex be color tinted..? If yes, what product.

    1 Answer

A: You can use this for your application, the thickened epoxy is off white and doesn't take pigments all that well.

Q: What is the coverage in square inches of the G/Flex 655? I will be using the Thickened Epoxy Adhesive to adhere Sponsons from ""Sailboats To Go"" to the sides of my 15'4"" Gheenoe canoe. Thanks for your help!

A: Coverage will depend on how thick it is applied. Check out this link from our support section: https://support.jamestowndistributors.com/hc/en-us/articles/360056623434-Caulking-and-Marine-Sealant-Coverage-Chart

Q: Can this product be applied very thick. I have large 1 inch cracks in a filler material in the bottom of my hanger locker where some hard concrete hard filler material was used to level out the bottom. It has cracked from the hull flex. Will this be a good filler for the cracks

Q: Hi has anyone tried using the G/Flex on a Sea Doo spark cracked hull. Maybe with fiberglass cloth ? Thank you.

    3 Answers

A: Hi Frisco If you're going to use fiberglass cloth, use a regular epoxy. GFlex when used alone is much better than low viscosity epoxy but will not penetrate the cloth very well. I assume the hull is fiberglass, if it's made from one of the poly or ABS materials epoxy won't work. Steve

Q: will this seal a leaking hot tub PVC manifold that has 4 flexible PVC hoses in it. Does it stick to flexible PVC if I make a form and pour it in.

    5 Answers

A: This product is not recommended for your application. It does have some adhesion to PVC, but under pressure and that type of flexibility, this product should not be used for your application.

Q: I would like to bond unglazed, slightly porous very large ceramic pieces together, one on top of the other (no shear). They will be placed out of doors in a climate that freezes in the winter and is hot in summer. There are some gaps of 3/8 inch maximum. Is West System G/Flex the best epoxy to use in this situation? Do I need to use a thickener and if so which one? Is this material light sensitive, should I paint over it once dried? Is there a recommended putty-like mortar I can use to cover any gaps or can I trowel G/Flex over the gaps?

    A: We use G-flex for bonding wood-metal and metal-metal. We use PC-7 for bonding ceramic-ceramic and ceramic-metal.

Q: Is the thickened G-Flex 655 thick like a putty or peanut butter after it is mixed or would I need to mix in some 404 high density filler? I need to fill some gaps around a polyethylene water pipe. Also does this epoxy have a shelf life?

    3 Answers

A: Hi Ken, G-flex has some thickness to it but not as thick as peanut butter. I use G-flex in applications where I would like __quote__flex__quote__. Like filling core that I intend to screw into etc. Adding filler would counter act the flexibility I was looking for. Something like microlight might be OK depending on what you are doing. If epoxy has a shelf life it is many years. Jeff
