Excellent Product

My boat is stored on a mooring in Southern Narragansett Bay in an area with very few boats and structure. Until I began using this product I had a serious Caesar Salad growing from my outdrives and trim tabs that would shorten my already short boating season. This product is amazing and I highly recommend it if you have an issue with marine growth on trim tabs our outdrives etc.

Q: null Can this be used over previously applied bottom paint or do you have to start with bare metal?

1 Answer

A: I applied it to the SailDrive leg of my Volvo at haulout a year ago. Sanded off most of the previous finish then applied TotalBoat Epoxy Primer, then two coats of the Outdrive Antifouling. Dove in to clean bottom last week, outdrive clean of weed, just a light scum like the rest of the bottom

A: Yes Outdrive AF is an antifouling paint for metals below the waterline, we would recommend that you prime first with an underwater primer.

Q: null Can I use this on and alum windshield that was previously powder coated. One marina in the 34 years that I've owned the boat, decided to compound the windshield frame and removed some of the flat black coating. I don't want to use a spray paint and prefer a brush. If it's good for an alum out drive, it should be OK for a windshield. What do you think?

1 Answer

A: This is an ANTIFOULING paint. It is not for use on exposed aluminum.
